logo design in harrogate
backA logo gets judged in half a second, on a sign, a van or a screen the size of a stamp.
Most small business logos were made quickly, years ago, and have been quietly letting the business down ever since. I am Joe Flynn, a designer based in Harrogate. I design logos and brand marks that still look right at every size, in one colour, on a hoodie, on a shopfront and on a phone, and I hand over every file you will ever need so you never have to ask for them again.
what I design
- Logos - a new mark from scratch, or a careful refresh of the one customers already know
- Brand identity - the logo plus colours, type, templates and a one-page guide so it stays consistent whoever uses it
- Garment and merch graphics - marks and artwork built to be printed, embroidered and worn
- Everything the logo goes on - signage, menus, flyers, social templates and the website, all matching
marks and graphics
A selection of marks and garment graphics designed for streetwear brands and an art practice, where a logo has to earn its place on a chest, not just a letterhead.

More, with the garments they ended up on, in the graphics gallery.
posters and print
Exhibition posters and branding for Mossy Oak Movies, an art practice in London: one for a September show with James Rollinson, two for a November show, and the logo lockup that went on the tees.

how logo design works here
- 1. A conversation - who your customers are, who you are up against locally, and what you already have that works
- 2. Directions - a small number of properly developed routes, shown in the places your logo will actually live, not floating on a white page
- 3. Refinement - we pick one and get it right, including how it behaves small, in one colour and on dark backgrounds
- 4. Files and a guide - vector, print, web, black, white and colour, plus one page on how to use them. You own everything
why a designer, not a logo generator
Logo generators and cheap marketplaces will give you something in an hour. They will also give the same thing to a business in Leeds next week. A logo for a Harrogate business should come from someone who has walked past your competitors' signs, and who will still be around when you need the mark on a van, a menu or a new website. Based in Harrogate, I also design for businesses in Knaresborough, Ripon, Leeds and across North Yorkshire.

How much does a logo cost in Harrogate?
A refresh of an existing logo and a brand new identity with colours, type and templates are different jobs. I quote each one personally rather than off a menu. Email me with what you have now and you will get a straight answer.
How long does a logo take?
A logo on its own is usually two to three weeks: a first round of directions, a round of changes, then final files. A full identity takes longer.
What files do I get?
Everything you will ever be asked for: vector files for print and signage, PNGs for web and social, black, white and colour versions, and a one-page guide on how to use them. You own the lot.
Can you refresh my existing logo rather than start again?
Yes, and often that is the right call. If customers already know your mark, a careful tidy-up keeps that recognition and fixes what is not working.
Can you put the logo on a website too?
Yes. I design and build websites as well, so the logo, the site and the photography can all come from one person and look like one business.
