People say it as a joke. I named the business after it because the joke is wrong. I am Joe Flynn, a web designer, photographer and videographer in Harrogate, and NothingUpNorth is the one-person studio where all of that happens.

I build websites and Shopify stores for independent businesses and brands, then look after them month to month so they keep working and keep climbing in search. Because I also shoot photography and film, a business that works with me ends up with a site, a set of photos and a run of videos that all look like the same place, made by the same hands.

On the video side, I have edited for Bastin on campaigns for Google Gemini, Jordan at JD Sports and New Era, alongside a steady run of films and social edits for brands across the north.

the bit that makes it different

I run a streetwear brand of my own, Commotion. It is where everything gets tried first: the site, the drops, the photography, the emails. So when I build a store for someone else, I have already stood on the other side of the checkout on a drop night and know exactly what breaks.

I also made theresnothingupnorth, a hand-drawn map of the best creative people in the north of England, because the joke in the name needed answering properly.
